Gay student won't be expelled, heads back to school

A Wichita student charged with harassment has not been expelled and plans to return to school Wednesday. Jimmy Iniguez, 17, a junior at Metro-Midtown Alternative High School, faced expulsion last week for allegedly harassing a fellow student in a school bathroom Feb. 28. Iniguez, who had been suspended since the incident, said he was innocent and was unfairly accused because he is gay. He received a letter from the district today saying a hearing officer found him not guilty of the charge. He plans to return to school at the Towne East Educational Resource Center on Wednesday.
